Yet Another Trip to Hospital!

Hands up who ended up in A&E again?! Oh yes, that would be me! Yep, you heard that right, I ended up in A&E yet again. I think I’ll have a standing reservation soon enough!

So this time it was my back. Funnily enough it was at the gym, you know the place where you try and build strength…not loose it! To add to the humour of it all, I did it using a kettle bell something I usually steer away from as a general rule. Not only am I not a massive fan but some of the movements just seem a bit unsafe to me, a bit risky…ironic huh. But for some reason I felt the urge to change up my routine a bit, add in a bit of something different. Boy was this a mistake. I have to add I did know what I was doing, it wasn’t anything I hadn’t done before. And I’m always extremely careful and controlled when using weights. But for some reason I must have turned ever so slightly wrong or my body just didn’t like the movement and my back was just not having it.

To cut a long story short, the pain went from bad to worse till I found myself lying in bed, in a pool of sweat, on the verge of being sick from the pain (if you know me, you will know I am NEVER sick and actually have a phobia of it). Not fun! So off we went to A&E where I discovered I could no longer walked as my muscles had seized and locked up and waited for around 3 hours. Luckily I was given a bed as I almost passed out from the walk into A&E and the proceeded to feel sick again. We even managed to watch Love Island on Harry’s iPad whilst we were waiting to be seen, I mean c’mon priorities. After some massive drama over a group of drunk 13 year olds (what the hell were the doing by the way?! It was a Sunday night) they eventually told me I had managed to tear my lower back muscles and prescribed me some very strong painkillers.

After spending a solid 3 days in bed, binge watching waaaayy to much Netflix, I am slowly on the mend and am now able to walk and sit again! You don’t know how bloody hard it was to try and eat whilst not being able to sit up properly. But I’m getting there and sure the painkillers have made me a drowsy mushy mess but I hope to be back to normal before we know it.

I guess the moral of the story is don’t go to the gym, haha! Okay maybe not that, but it will definetely be a little while until I get back into the gym again. Not so great for getting that summer bod.
