Despite currently being sat in Spain with a forecast of sunshine for the rest of the week (if I’m sounding smug, take comfort in the fact that it’s rained the 1st 2 days of my holiday!), I am very aware that when I get back to the UK it’s starting to get that bit colder, seriously how is it September already?!
Depending on what calendar you go by, the Meteorological Autumn actually starts today. However in the UK Autumn to most will be starting on the 22nd…I don’t know about you, but I’d rather hold on to summer for just a few more weeks!
The change in weather has got me a bit excited for the change in my wardrobe. I definitely prefer dressing for the cooler months, layering, cosy knits, boots and winter coats, what’s not to love! I feel like there are just more options to go for. One of my first purchases for the transitional period we are experiencing has been this cute Missguided faux sherling style coat. When I say cute, I mean it’s seriously cute, I think if you look up the word cute in the Oxford Dictionary a picture of this coat will actually appear.
I think what works about this jacket, is the colour. Although summer is soon to be over I don’t want to completely forget about it. The way I like to think of my transitional wardrobe is the pairing up of my summer and winter clothes, a summer dress with chunky boots and a warm jacket. This jacket allows you to still wear your summer pieces whilst warming them up.
When transitioning into the colder months I find it far to easy to opt for black, but this jacket gives room for a pop off colour in your everyday outfits, that is also muted enough that it can go with pretty much anything. Even red, I’m putting it out there. I love the clashing tones at the mo. I think that is a major key piece of style advice we should all follow in the transitional months, is not to leave colour behind. I believe combining light and dark is the perfect way to blend summer and winter for a failsafe transitional wardrobe.
Not to mention the fact that this jacket is now the cosiest thing I own!
