My Staple Item

I have probably mentioned this so many times but my go to piecing of clothing is my leather jacket. I’ve had this about a year and a half now, back from when I was working at Allsaints in Notting Hill, London. It’s the classic biker style Balfern jacket in black. I cannot praise this jacket enough, I wear it nonstop and will continue to do so. It’s been perfect for this transitional period we’ve  been in and I can even wear it as it’s starting to get colder, with a nice big cosy jumper underneath.

My Go To

This jacket is just so wearable, it make a statement whilst still managing to go with everything I own. I know that I can chuck it on with pretty much any outfit and it will tie a look together, whilst giving it some edge. I’ve paired the jacket with a pair of grey culottes from Missguided, a nude polo neck from Newlook and some black heeled boots from Public Desire.

Up until recently I had been a bit afraid to wear culottes because of my height (I’m quite short). I thought they were only for tall people, so was always a bit intimidated by them. But I have recently found a couple of pairs from Missguided that really seem to suit my figure and not make my legs look too stumpy. I love the fact that you can style them up with a pair of heels or style them down with a pair of trainers. Again they have been another great piece for the transitional weather.

One thing to mention when buying a leather jacket is they stretch! I didn’t realise this until I started learning about them at work. So if you’re wanting something reasonably form fitting make sure to stick to your size or even go a size down like I did. A leather jacket is an investment piece and can be a real wardrobe staple so make sure to get the size, shape, etc. right!
